GRAYHAWKS CHEERLEADING REGISTRATION Info
Future Laker Cheer Starts Here! Building Spirit from Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
Thank you for your interest in being a part of the Grayhawks Cheerleading team.
We look forward to welcoming your child to the Grayhawks Cheerleading program this season. Our program will focus on learning the fundamentals of the game of football, cheerleading essentials, and age-appropriate safe stunting. In addition to the fun and friendships our program provides, it also serves as great preparation for those who intend to move on to high school cheerleading. This year, we are excited to partner with some MLHS Cheerleaders to further align our programs!
Registration for the 2026 Grayhawks Cheerleading Season will close on July 1, 2026. There will be no additional registrations beyond this date. We reserve the right to cap participation if necessary. *Please note that there are no refunds for any reason, as we utilize registration funds to order personalized materials to arrive by the start of the season.*
Teams
This season, we hope to have three squads (dependent upon registration numbers):
- • PeeWee– Grades K-2
- • Junior Varsity (JV) – Grades 3-5
- • Varsity – Grades 6-8
Each squad will have practice from 4:00-5:30 pm every Thursday from September 3 to October 29. Cheerleaders can expect to cheer at one game per weekend, as aligned with the Grayhawks football schedule, with a bye week or two expected. Once games are assigned, times and locations will be posted to your cheerleader’s Team Snap schedule.
*New* PRE-SEASON CLINIC
This year, we are excited to offer an optional, but encouraged, pre-season clinic for our cheerleaders. The pre-season clinic will take place on August 4, 5, and 6. These clinics will be run alongside some of our MLHS cheerleaders and will focus on cheerleading basics, including a preview of our cheers, stunts, jumps, and tumbling. More information will follow registration, and we hope to see your cheerleader there!
CHEER CAMP
Cheer Camp will take place at the RVA pavilions on the following days:
- • Camp Day 1: Mon. Aug. 24 from 4-6 pm
- • Camp Day 2: Tues. Aug. 25 from 4-6 pm
- • Camp Day 3: Thurs. Aug. 27 from 4-6 pm
Attendance at cheer camp is mandatory for every cheerleader. We will learn our cheers, stunts, and halftime routines during camp to set ourselves up for the season.
We recognize that camp takes place during the last days of summer vacation, and many will have their first day of school on August 26. We are doing our best to accommodate the camp schedule so you can enjoy your last full week of summer and the Labor Day weekend that follows. We appreciate any flexibility you have on your end to ensure your child’s attendance on these dates.
⭐ Our 8th-grade Varsity Cheerleaders will have the opportunity to try out for Team Captain during camp. More information on the Varsity Captain application and selection process will be provided to our rising 8th graders following registration.
UNIFORMS
Grayhawks will provide the cheerleading uniforms, pom-poms, and megaphones. You will be required to return these at the end of the season.
We will also purchase each cheerleader a personalized Grayhawks Cheerleading warm-up jacket, a bag for carrying cheer items to games, and cheer bows. These items will be yours to keep!
Each cheerleader will be responsible for purchasing the following items and ensuring all items are in their cheer bag for each game:
- • short black spandex shorts (to wear at practice and under skirts on warmer days)
- • black leggings/yoga pants (to wear at practice and under skirts on colder days)
- • black long-sleeve athletic shirt/turtleneck (to wear under shells at colder games)
- • black tank top (to wear at practice and under shell on warmer days)
